Just five days into the NHL season, some Caps fans will be once again on the short end of the stick as Tuesday night's game at Philadelphia is going to be shown on Versus, which isn't available on DirecTV systems pending the resolution of a dispute between Versus' parent company, Comcast, and the satellite provider.
Three games in, two Washington games likely will be unavailable to those subscribers, with both of those being the team's two road contests. The network claims the dispute didn't harm last week's opener, as Versus was the most-watched cable network in the market during Washington's 4-1 win over the Bruins.
Fortunately for DirecTV customers, the next telecast on the network doesn't come for another couple of weeks, as the team's home game on the 27th - also against the Flyers - is scheduled for Versus.
But, with the dispute now entering its second month, it might be awhile before the cable conglomerate and the nation's largest satellite provider come to an agreement to let Caps fans watch the network.
