Fresh off his heroics at the World Junior Championship, the Capitals recalled John Carlson from Hershey to play in Friday night's game against the Maple Leafs.
Carlson, who made his NHL debut and played three games for Washington before being returned, scored the game-winning goals for the United States in the semi-finals against Sweden and the overtime winner against Canada.
With Hershey, Carlson is tied among AHL defensemen with 25 points and is second among AHL rookies with a +17 rating.
