The Wings and Capitals just wrapped up the first period at Verizon Center with neither team lighting the lamp. The Wings badley outshot the Capitals, 15-3, as the Capitals did not register there first shot until the 14:23 mark.
The Capitals did manage a small push on a late power play, but only got one shot through to Osgood. Alexander Semin had a quality chance just as the penalty expired, but was unable to gather the puck to the left of the goal crease after a cross ice pass from Tom Poti.
Jose Theodore looks to be on his game tonight as he his seeing the puck and moving very well. He stopped Kris Draper in front on a one time pass from Darren Helm two-minutes into the period, then stopped Todd Bertuzzi on a breakaway early in the Red Wings second power play.
Bertuzzi snuck behind the defense and took the puck just inside the blue-line, but Theodore forced Bertuzzi to skate wide of the net and stopped his shot.
