Second Period Re-Cap

The second period was much like the first in the sense that neither team was able to get any consistent offensive pressure. The Capitals, however, were able to put one more goal on the scoreboard.

With Jeff Carter in the box for holding Tyler Sloan, Alexander Semin put in Brooks Laich's re-direct to give the Capitals a 3-2 lead.

Off the faceoff, Mike Green sent a wrist shot to towards the net, which was re-directed by Laich who was standing in front of the Flyers net. Semin put the rebound into a wide-open net with authority at 7:05.

The Flyers had an opportunity late in the period to tie the game on the power play. With Jeff Schultz in the box for tripping, Matt Carle's point shot was gloved down by Theodore with little effort. That was the only shot the Flyers were able to muster on the power play.

The Flyers outshot the Capitals 12-9 in the second period, and right now have a 21-17 edge in shots entering the third period.
