Washington Capitals rookie camp will conclude on Thursday, Sept. 16, with a 3 p.m. game against rookies from the Philadelphia Flyers at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. Admission to the game will be free but due to space limitations will require a ticket that fans can obtain from WashingtonCaps.com beginning Sept. 1.
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Capitals and Flyers rookies have met in a game at one of the teams’ practice facilities, the second time that it will take place at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. WashingtonCaps.com will broadcast streaming audio and video of the game live, with Capitals radio voice Steve Kolbe and senior writer Mike Vogel calling the action.
The Capitals will open rookie camp on Sunday, Sept. 12, with all on-ice workouts at Kettler Capitals Iceplex open to the public and free of charge. Select participants in rookie camp will be invited to join veteran players in training camp, which begins Saturday, Sept. 18. Like rookie camp, all training camp on-ice workouts are open to the public. A complete schedule of practice sessions for both rookie camp and training camp will be announced in early September.
