Capital One Bank Hosts Capitals Street Festival Outside Verizon Center

In the spirit of the hockey season, Capital One Bank (www.capitalone.com/bank) is hosting a free Capitals Street Festival for the public with family friendly hockey-related activities before Saturday night’s home game against the Atlanta Thrashers.

What: Capitals Street Festival – Free and open to the public
When: Saturday, October 23
3 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Where: 600 block of F Street between 6th and 7th Streets
Look for the giant inflatable Capitals jersey
Activities: Hockey activities for all ages
Appearances: Various sports players and personalities will make fan appearances, including John Wall of the Wizards; Marissa Coleman of the Mystics; Ted Leonsis, chairman and majority owner of the Washington Capitals, Mystics and Wizards; and the Capitals’ Slapshot mascot.

The festival will feature a variety of activities for hockey fans, including:
Slap Shot Challenge – Hockey fans will see how fast they can take a shot at the hockey goal. A radar gun will record each person’s top speed and a leaderboard will track the fastest times.
Hockey Accuracy Challenge – Each goal shooter will see how accurate their puck action is by hitting as many white light targets as possible before the buzzer sounds.
Call the Play – Participants can experience what it’s like to be a sportscaster and record play-by-play commentary on their favorite Capitals plays.
Hockey Rink Photo Booth – Fans will be in the middle of the hockey action with this staged booth using green screen technology.
Zamboni Photo Zone – People can sit in the driver’s seat and act like a professional driver of the ice resurfacing machine.
“What’s in your Wallet” – Any Capital One customer will receive complimentary food vouchers for the nearby Green Turtle restaurant.
